COUN 5583 - Addictions Counseling

This advanced course examines the theories, diagnosis, and treatment of chemical and behavioral addictions. The student will also learn the neurobiological and medical foundation and etiology of addiction and co-occurring disorders and will address addiction from the Christian worldview. Students will create treatment plans and demonstrate counseling skills and techniques through simulation of a real counseling session. Level 3 Course. Students must make a B or better. Class 3. Prerequisite(s): COUN 5023 , COUN 5033, COUN 5043, COUN 5053, COUN 5073, COUN 5083, COUN 5093, COUN 5123, COUN 5133, COUN 5153, COUN 5203, COUN 5223, COUN 5343, COUN 5333, COUN 5443 and COUN 5593.
