AEGR 5213 - Experimental Mechanics of Composite Materials This course provides an in-depth overview of composite materials, fundamental mechanics of composite materials as well as design of structural parts and components using composite materials. Various micromechanics concepts will be investigated so that students are able to design the mechanical properties into the materials that they use to build the structures and components. Environmental impact on composite structures will be investigated to elucidate the effect of moisture, time and temperature change on mechanical properties of composites. Students will make composite laminates and test them to gather mechanical property data following ASTM standards. In addition, they will design, build and test a composite component or device. Class 3. Lab 1. Prerequisite(s): ENGR 2313 and MEGR 3323 .
