Teacher Leadership Specialization, M.Ed. (MTL):Non-Traditional


STRAND 1 - STUDENTS WHO HOLD A TEACHING CERTIFICATE

 

The specialization in Teacher Leadership is designed for those in the field of education to expand their knowledge and strengthen their teaching skills. These courses provide a breadth and depth of relevant information that will serve to enhance instructional effectiveness, facilitate student success, and develop leadership at the campus level. This master’s specialization culminates with the completion of an action research project through which participants recognize the link between theory and practical application of knowledge. Students opting for this specialization may be eligible for campus-based instructional leadership positions which could include department chairs, achievement coordinators, and curriculum and instruction specialists. Elective choices provide the opportunity to attain certification for instructing Special Education or English-as-a-second language (ESL) students

Total Credit Hours: 32


**May be followed with MEDU 5523 - Instructional Strategies for Exceptional Learning Services  to be eligible for certification process for Special Education

STRAND 2 - STUDENTS WHO ARE SEEKING CERTIFICATION


The Teacher Leadership Specialization, M. Ed (MLT) Strand 2 is designed to offer degreed individuals the opportunity to gain Texas teacher certification while earning an M.Ed. degree. These courses in this specialization consists of the Texas Education Agency/State Board of Educator Certification (TEA/SBEC)-approved certification-specific classes, available for Core Subjects EC-6 and 4-8. The concluding courses provide the required knowledge to be successful in today’s schools while gaining a master’s degree.
