The specialization in Curriculum and Instruction is designed for those experienced in the field of education with a desire to deepen their knowledge in the area of curriculum and its influences on instruction. These courses provide theoretical and practical knowledge about curriculum design and evaluation, instructional effectiveness of teachers utilizing the curriculum, and leadership qualities. This master’s specialization culminates with the completion of a practicum or action research project through which participants recognize the link between theory and practical application of knowledge. Students opting for this specialization may be eligible for campus and district instructional leadership positions, which could include curriculum and instruction specialists, research and planning administrators, district coaches, curriculum directors, or Assistant Superintendent in charge of Curriculum and Instruction.
