Educational Administration Specialization with Curriculum Emphasis, M.Ed. (MEAC):Non-Traditional


The specialization in Educational Administration with Curriculum Emphasis is designed to provide strong curriculum knowledge with Educational Administration basics for those seeking the Principal as Instructional Leader certification. Courses in this track cover a wide spectrum of content-specific areas, ranging from student learning outcomes to school finance to human resource management, all of which of which are essential to the efficient, daily operation of educational institutions. This master’s specialization includes sets of Practicum experiences that allow the student to observe and participate in instructional and organizational activities. Students completing the Educational Administration with Curriculum Emphasis specialization will be prepared for administrative positions in schools such as principal, assistant principal, and other curriculum leadership roles. Students who want Texas Principal as Instructional Leader Certification must be Texas certified teachers with a minimum of two years teaching experience to be eligible to take the Texas principal certification exam.

Requirements for Texas Principal Certification


Two years of experience as a classroom teacher, as defined by chapter 230, subchapter Y of Title 19 -Texas Administrator Code, is required. Students must provide evidence of two years of teaching experience, a current teaching certificate, and pass the Principal practice exam with the score of at least 80% before they are eligible to apply to the Certification Office to take the TExES Principal exam. Upon receiving a successful score on the TExES Principal exam, and completing all other program coursework for the Master of Education, Educational Administration, students may apply to be recommended for state certification.
