MJEG 5213 - Advanced Welding Metallurgy II Theory of welding metallurgy, with emphasis placed on welding thermal cycle, non-equilibrium solidification theory, and welding microstructures in engineering alloys. Laboratory component includes use of modern engineering tools, such as computational thermodynamics, numerical heat transfer methods, scanning electron microscope, and physical simulations, to characterize weldability of advanced materials and alloys. Graduate students complete additional assignments. Class 2. Lab 3. Prerequisite(s): Permission of instructor.
