Mission Statement:

The Liberal Arts Guild at LeTourneau University seeks to create a community of Christian men and women dedicated to building and renewing cultures that glorify God and seek to reconcile the world to Him, guided by a rigorous, sequential, and well-crafted curriculum.

Program Objectives:

Challenge students to take every thought captive to Christ by giving them the foundations they need to read scripture and understand culture on a whole new level.
Promote integrated humanities courses that create an immersive and life-forming experience for students through story, image, and sound.
Foster an appreciation of learning and culture as valuable in themselves while also preparing students for the workplace.
Expose students to other cultures and orient them with respect to their own.
Encourage a craftsmanship mentality among students in all of their endeavors that enables them to build a culture of life wherever they find themselves.
Create a vibrant community formed by these experiences and values.

Explanation of the Curriculum:

The Liberal Arts Scholars Program builds upon, structures, and expands existing General Education requirements for the Guild’s student cohorts by creating special courses that fulfill these requirements using a special methodology. The first two years are the most intense and are organized around two broad themes: World Cultures (A-years) and American Culture (B-years). The cornerstone of these themed years are the integrated history and literature courses that are designed to work together synchronically. These courses emphasize the reading of primary source texts and purposefully reflect upon issues of technology and society. Students must enroll in the history and literature classes simultaneously.
